Rara Woulib

France

Rara Woulib is a French theatre collective renowned for its immersive, site-specific performances that blend music, poetry, and community engagement. Drawing inspiration from the Haitian rara tradition, the collective creates participatory rituals and performances in public spaces, intertwining preserved customs with contemporary expressions. Their work often explores themes of identity, migration, and collective memory, inviting audiences to become active participants in the storytelling process.

As part of the Transitioning LANDscapes project, Rara Woulib will collaborate with partners in Slovakia to develop new work that responds to local landscapes and communities. Their approach emphasizes the importance of context and community in the creative process, ensuring that each performance is unique and deeply connected to its environment.

The collective’s commitment to engaging with diverse communities and exploring the intersections of culture and place makes them a valuable addition to the LAND network.
