Rita Hoofwijk

The Netherlands

Rita Hoofwijk is a Dutch artist whose interdisciplinary practice spans installation, performance, sound, and text. Her work is deeply rooted in a sensory exploration of space, often involving the body as a means of connecting with the environment. Hoofwijk’s projects seek to unravel the relationship between the individual and the landscape, inviting audiences to engage with the physicality of their surroundings and reflect on their place within it.

Hoofwijk often works site-specifically, creating installations that transform ordinary spaces into thought-provoking environments. Her work invites contemplation and encourages participants to reimagine the way they interact with the world around them. She is interested in the subtle interactions between people and places, and her projects often explore how we experience space through multiple senses, combining visual, tactile, and auditory elements to create immersive, multisensory experiences.

As part of the Transitioning LANDscapes project, Hoofwijk will collaborate with LAND partner Le Citron Jaune, to develop new work in response to the specific landscapes of the Camargue and the port of Marseilles.
