Thierry Boutonnier is a French artist whose work explores the concept of domestication, focusing on human relationships with non-human life forms. Drawing from his agricultural background, he integrates art with life sciences to create participatory, site-specific projects that challenge conventional perceptions of nature and its exploitation. His multidisciplinary approach encompasses performance, video, sculpture, and ecological interventions. Notable projects include Appel d’Air, a long-term initiative accompanying the Grand Paris Express, and Recherche Forêt, which reintroduces urban spaces to native plant species. In 2022, Boutonnier participated in the Norway training week of the Erasmus+ project Working in LANDscapes, engaging with fellow artists to further his exploration of ecological art practices.
